SAVANNAH, GA- “One of the biggest misconceptions is that we just sit around and listen to Jimmy Buffet all day long,” said Sasha Ruth, a Savannah Parrotheads Club member.
“Party with a purpose” is the Parrotheads group’s motto, said Ruth who was a guest on WJCL’s Good Morning Savannah Monday to tell viewers about a charity event happening this Saturday, April 13.
The 7th Annual Scavenger Hunt and Pub Crawl will take place from 12-4 p.m. in the area of Savannah’s Ellis Square (starts in front of Wild Wings Café). Participants with tickets purchased online ahead of time and those who plan to buy tickets at the event are urged to arrive at about 11 a.m. to familiarize themselves with the rules of the scavenger hunt and get settled. “We will start on time at noon,” said Ruth.
Ten bars are included in this year’s pub crawl. Each participant will be privy to each bar’s drink specials, according to Sasha Ruth, Savannah Parrotheads club member. There will be clues at each pub that the “scavengers” will be asked to find.
Cost is $30/person and proceeds go to Memorial Hospital’s Prostate Cancer Support Fund. Click here to buy tickets online.
At the 2012 event, the Savannah Parrotheads raised $7K for charity.
“That was double what we raised in 2011,” revealed Ruth who is hopeful the event can double its proceeds again this year and help a lot of local men dealing with prostate cancer treatments.
