Charles Randall Willyerd, 59, Former PPHC Vice President

The Palmetto Parrot Head Club is sad to announce the passing of former PPHC Vice President and long-time club member Randy Willyerd. The PPHC sends its condolences to Betty and the entire Willyerd family for their loss. Randy was a dear friend and active club member for many years. He will be greatly missed.

COLUMBIA – Charles Randall Willyerd, 59, of Columbia, SC was peacefully promoted to his heavenly home, surrounded by his loving family, on the morning of November 27th after a valiant battle with cancer.

Born September 16, 1956, in Frankfurt, Germany to parents Charles E. and Louise Wise Willyerd, Randy was a beloved member of Union United Methodist Church and the Joy Sunday School class.

In addition to his parents, he leaves behind his wife of almost 35 years, Betty Herbert Thomas Willyerd; son, Thomas R. Willyerd; daughter, Lindsay R. Willyerd; daughter and son-in-law Mandy Willyerd Carter and Sam Carter; and brother, J. Scott Willyerd. He is also survived by father-in-law, Rev. J. Herbert Thomas and brother-in-law, James Thomas, Jr. and wife, Jennifer. He was an incredibly proud “Grampy” to his two beautiful grands, Braylen Willyerd and Tripp Carter.

Randy was a graduate of The University of South Carolina and remained a loyal Gamecock. He was a proud member of the Palmetto Parrothead Club, enjoying the music and lifestyle of Jimmy Buffett, where he served as Vice-President and board member for several years. In honor of Randy’s “Caribbean Soul”, his family requests you wear bright tropical attire to the visitation and funeral to celebrate with joy the life he lived.

Randy spent many years in the floor covering business in the Columbia area, and most recently worked with Builders Wholesale Carpet & Flooring.

The family would like to extend their gratitude for the many expressions of love and support received. A special thanks goes to Russell Taylor and the Builders Wholesale Carpet family, as well as Dr. Steve Madden and the amazing staff at Lexington Oncology.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. The service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at Union Methodist with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
