Why can’t all venues be this cool?

Wouldn’t it be nice if all concert venues were as cool towards tailgaters as Gexa Energy Pavilion in Dallas?

So you want to join the tailgate party?

Mike Tabor, general manager of Gexa Energy Pavilion, will be ready for Parrotheads once the venue opens its gates at noon Wednesday. Recreational vehicles and pop-up tents are welcome and there will be no additional parking fees for overnight tailgaters. You can bring a grill as long as it’s propane instead of charcoal. Portable toilets will be available. There will even be a roaming convenience store stocking ice, bottled water, soda, plastic cups and paper plates.

“We’ve already heard from local Parrotheads and they are chomping at the bit,” Tabor said. “It’s a reality escape. Some of these people will cook for up to two days beforehand and store it and then drive out there. Some of these spreads it’s like a big-time caterer came out.”

Golf carts are permitted but “anyone bringing in a golf cart or having it delivered must sign a waiver releasing the City of Dallas of liability,” Tabor said. If you’ve got an RV, don’t drain the black water onto the property.

“It is the most unique experience I have ever been associated with,” Tabor said. “The people, how well they get along. They are all there for the same reason. They all understand the vibe.”
